Dear Reader,
Yesterday was an important day, the day in which I got my Young Leader Qualification signed off!
After almost 2 years with a unit, I have run 3 activities, observed leadership styles and the young members, whilst gaining an understanding of the programme and our aims.
I thought that it would be appropriate to reflect on some of the things I have done in order to achieve this qualification, and begin to look forward to my Adult Leadership Qualification (ALQ)...
~
The activity I was most proud of was the Promise activity that I ran for the girls. I had them create Promise jars, and fill them with slips of paper for each part of the promise, eg. To be true to myself, about what that part means to them, or what they will do to keep that part of the promise.
The book cover activity that I ran for the Designer interest badge allowed me to unleash my inner nerd, and re-design the cover of my favourite book, whilst getting the girls to discuss their favourite books, something I'm very passionate about.
I helped the girls to participate in an activity with another unit by accompanying them on a Christmas sleepover with another local unit, in which we took a ride on a steam train, and went to Santa's grotto..
Just a short reflection on the things I have done, among all of the other trips and activities I have participated in with Brownies. I am looking forward to starting my ALQ and planning and running more activities to contribute towards the girls experience at Brownies.
I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the Queen and my community, to help other people and to keep the Guide Law,
Yours,
The 16-Year-Old Brownie
