Dear Reader,
Well... If she's between the ages of 5 and 7, have you considered Rainbows?
Whether your daughter is already a loud, confident socialite, or a quiet, reserved girl who needs to come our of her shell, Rainbows will likely be a great thing for her. She will have the opportunity to make friends from different schools, make crafty creations covered in stickers and glue (without your carpet having to suffer), and even go on trips, and sleepovers.
Do you have a daughter who enjoys running around, getting her hands covered in paint and playing games?
Whether your daughter is already a loud, confident socialite, or a quiet, reserved girl who needs to come our of her shell, Rainbows will likely be a great thing for her. After a short time at Rainbows, your daughter will be able to make her promise, and be enrolled as an official member.
Along with all our older units, Rainbows have the opportunity to earn badges, including Rainbow Roundabouts - 7 badges which are designed to allow Rainbows to do activities, crafts, cooking and games to help them explore personal development, world festivals, healthy living and seasons + nature, fitting around the Rainbow Jigsaw - Look, Learn, Laugh, Love. As well as challenge badges, that can be tailored to any level of Guiding.
In my time as a Rainbow helper, I helped the girls to complete 2 challenge badges, seasonal crafts, and an outdoor session with the police to learn about road safety. The unit changed a lot in the time that I was there. I saw girls join the unit, leave the unit, and move onto Brownies, some of whom I work with now in our local Brownie units, and I feel very honoured to be able to continue watching them develop into confident, skilled young women. I can safely that there was not one girl who did not develop her self-confidence, come on leaps and bounds socially, or have a lot fun doing it.
Since becoming a Young Leader, a Rainbow unit was set up alongside our Brownie unit, and I had the pleasure of accompanying them on a trip to the Sea Life Centre for the Rainbow's 30th Birthday celebration. They also had the chance to go on a 24 hour sleepover at local Guiding Centre, Patterson Lodge, and have completed badges such as The Unicorn Challenge badge, as well as getting involved with things such as entries for the design of their 30th birthday badge.

In my local area, the leaders work tirelessly to ensure that our Rainbows have much as fun as possible, and I think that, not so secretly, the leaders have a very good time doing it. If your daughter joins us, I am pretty sure that she will have an enriching, and above all, enjoyable experience.
