♡Eaton Vale - Brownie Pack Holiday 6-8th July 2018♡

Dear Reader, 

Last weekend we took 16 Brownies to Eaton Vale Guide and Scout Activity Centre, to experience some of the activities on offer as well as the activities we had organised ourselves. The programme for the weekend was packed full of outdoor activities, crafts and really, really good food! 🍔🍦

Friday 6th July

After a failed Tesco delivery and an emergency trip to Tesco to cater for 21 people for the weekend, which is 2 scarily full large trolleys....

the fun was underway! After settling in and eating our tea, we embarked on a very complicated, slightly unclear orienteering trail that I in no way understood, and myself and Eagle Owl wandered around along with about 10 Brownies, in the wrong direction quite a lot of the time! #fail

The evening was then spent popping our heads repeatedly into the corridor to ask why the Brownies weren't in bed and going to sleep very late, of course! Thank goodness for the 'snug' room, where the leaders attempted to relax while the girl's were sleeping...or were supposed to be.

Saturday 7th July

Today was a very tiring day, filled with canoeing and archery. Much of my canoeing experience consisted of crashing into various trees, bushes and the river bank, and then nursing an injured neck and shoulder for a few days, but the Brownies enjoyed it! I then discovered that I hadn't lost my touch when it came to hitting the target in archery, being the only leader to pop the balloon on the target board, and hitting the centre rings a few times.

Throughout the day I was most proud of the Brownies who took part despite their hesitations, and it was rewarding that some Brownies agreed to go canoeing with me accompanying them, as I enabled them to have the experience and enjoy it, as well as the girls who were afraid to take part in archery, who changed their mind after watching their peers enjoy the activity.

Sunday 8th July

Thankfully, Sunday was a little more relaxed, as everyone was beginning to suffer with the tiredness, and the morning was spent doing craft activities, such as mosaic sheep coasters,  in which I spent rather a long time making owl key rings for the leaders....🦉

before heading off to go Grass Sledging, which had varying degrees of success, and the one person who ended up injured as a result of the activity was Brown Owl, so it was an interesting one to say the least. 🤕

This pack holiday marked my achievement of 25 Nights Away, which already takes pride of place on my camp blanket.
